Neuperlacher Einkaufsparadies Roof renovation

INITIAL SITUATION: For more than four decades, the Perlach city shopping gallery has been operating the concept of shopping experience with great success. Every day, visitors to the PEP benefit from the wide range of shops in this shopping paradise. When extensive Roof renovation work became necessary, a refrigeration system weighing several tons had to be lifted and moved.

SOLUTION: The obvious solution was to use a crane vehicle to carry out the task from the street with the boom at roof height. The consequence: Closure of a busy access road and high costs for a suitable crane vehicle. The best and most cost-effective solution: a SCHILLING gantry crane, which could be easily transported to the roof thanks to its space-saving transport dimensions and set up there in a few simple steps. Moving the refrigeration system was then a matter of routine with the SCHILLING gantry crane (movable under load). The advantages of the gantry crane solution were obvious. A lower roof load due to the lightweight aluminium construction as well as the individual adaptability that was necessary due to the lateral limitation (see picture – tight space conditions on the left side of the air conditioning).

RESULT: The flexible reusability for various lifting jobs as well as the easy transport of the gantry crane and the high load-bearing capacity tipped the scales in favor of this solution. The air conditioning unit could be lifted and moved relatively easily and then just as easily moved back to its original position after the floor renovation.
