Roof renovation at Neuperlacher Shoppingcenter PEP - Lifting technology in demand

For more than four decades, the Perlacher Einkaufsgalerie has been operating the concept of adventure shopping with great success. Every day, visitors to the PEP benefit from the variety of industries in this shopping paradise.

During a comprehensive roof renovation, a refrigeration plant weighing several tons had to be lifted and moved. The solution using a rented crane vehicle would have caused not only the closure of an important access road but also increased costs, which is why SCHILLING opted for an ALU portal crane solution.

Individual, flexible and mobile gantry crane won the contract

The advantages of the portal crane solution were obvious. A lower roof load due to the lightweight aluminium construction as well as the individual adaptability which was necessary due to the lateral limitation (see picture - tight space conditions on the left side of the air conditioning unit).

The flexible reusability for various lifting operations as well as the easy transport of the gantry crane and the high load capacity were the final factors in favour of this solution.

The air conditioner could thus be lifted and moved relatively easily and can be moved back to its original position just as easily after the soil remediation work had been carried out.
